Checking Google Play app availability by country
How country availability works on Google Play, and how to check one app or a thousand.
How it works
When publishing, a developer picks the countries where the app is offered. Outside them the listing is hidden from the store and from search. A traveller with an account from another country may still see it; a resident without access will not.
One app
curl -H "X-API-Key: $API_KEY" \ "https://apiapk.info/api/v1/availability?id=com.revolut.revolut"
The answer has countries_count, a worldwide flag for apps offered in 190+ countries, and otherwise the list of two-letter country codes.
Many apps
Loop over package names; each call costs one token. For a list of apps limited to one country, browse the local app pages here, which are rebuilt every night.
Uses
- Expansion research: where does a competitor not operate yet?
- Compliance: confirming an app is not offered in sanctioned or regulated markets.
- Support: answering "why can't I find the app?"
